Making the world a better place
Our activities have given us the opportunity to become close to certain events that have shaped what we are. We came up with this idea when thinking about our own childrens’ education, ensuring that their feet are firmly on the ground, whilst showing them other cultures, teaching them about the reality of life elsewhere, helping them to forge relationships with young people from other nationalities and making them realise how fortunate we are. Those principles and our enthusiasm towards this new project have been the foundations driving us to create Never Again in Europe.
Never Again was born from our passion for Africa. We are a dedicated group of professionals specialised in development aid projects who have decided to bring this idea to fruition after more than 25 years’ experience of working in numerous third world countries.
Any person over the age of 18.
Your safety is essential and our priority. Our projects offer totally safe environments and are continuously supervised by our personnel. Rwanda is currently one of the safest countries in Africa, with a low crime rate.
Our progammes include transport between accommodation and project sites in vehicles belonging to our organisation. We closely supervise all travel. Any travel undertaken by volunteers outside the project is not included. However, we are able to offer you transport for leisure activities not included in our programmes (i.e. visits to natural parks, sightseeing tours etc.).
We work with different hotels in the town. Accommodation is full board in individual rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Meals at one of the hotels are prepared using its own-grown products. Vegetarians and vegans can be catered for.
We consider accommodation and meals to be two of the most important aspects of your experience. We carefully select accommodation that meets the necessary requirements, so that you can really feel at home.
We recommend vaccines for yellow fever and cholera. At this moment in time international vaccine centres do not administer these vaccines to tourists visiting Rwanda, although we consider it advisable. We also recommend that you take antimalarial medication during your stay.
The projects take place permanently in June and July. The human rights programme can be undertaken throughout the year.
You can travel either alone or in a group. Even if you prefer going it alone you will still be able to share experiences with people from other parts of the world. However, if you prefer to be with other people we can offer a specific programme to suit your group.
We hope you won’t get ill, but if you do, don’t worry, we’ll look after you! We have our own general medical practitioner working as part of our team. The most common minor health problems encountered are stomach related. For this reason we always recommend that you eat food from trustworthy places recommended by us.
The programmes take place from Monday to Friday, 8am to 12pm and 3pm to 6pm. On two afternoons a week you can participate in various activities to increase your knowledge of the country. The schools are closed at the weekend and volunteers usually choose to participate in tourism, leisure or sporting activities.
Kigali is a bustling and vibrant town. From Monday to Saturday town centre shops are very busy, but are closed on Sundays. We are able to organise visits to national parks or any other tailor-made activity. Leisure activities are not included in our programmes but can be organised if requested in advance.
