ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
IN RWANDA

WHAT CAN I DO DURING THE WEEK?

From Monday to Friday, activities will be carried out at the schools and regional centres with which we collaborate and at the headquarters of our local NGO branch Never Again Rwanda.

WHAT CAN I DO AT THE WEEKEND?

Rwanda has many different national parks showcasing the country’s diverse flora and fauna.

AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

Akagera National Park is located just 75 km away from Kigali, on the border with Tanzania. This park gives visitors a good opportunity to see the diverse range of wildlife in the area, such as zebras, elephants etc.

One of the main advantages of this park compared to similar parks in neighbouring countries is the low number of daily visitors and the freedom of movement allowed by the park authorities. Visitors can venture into the park driving their own vehicles. The park has its own small hotel providing splendid views of sunsets over the lake.

Our local partner Never Again Rwanda will be happy to organise your visit to the park and will take care of hiring a vehicle and guide for you.

VIRUNGA MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

The spectacular Virunga mountains are home to gorillas and many species of monkey.

This large park is located right in the middle of three countries: Rwanda, The Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

Entry to the park from the Rwandan side is quite expensive due to the low number of visitor passes issued per day. However, from the Congo side it is cheaper and easier to get access, although the complicated political situation of the area sometimes makes it difficult.
